Febrero is a joyful declaration of happiness and love. It celebrates the hot Chilean summer in the month of February, when this album was recorded. The repertoire was selected by the Spanish singer and trumpeter Andrea Motis together with guitarist and arranger Federico Dannemann. The young and dedicated classical Chilean musicians of Camerata Papageno recorded the repertoire alongside Andrea, featuring Christoph Mallinger on violin and mandolin, and Federico Dannemann on guitar.
“Few albums will make for happier listening than Febrero.“
– Joan Anton Cararach, Artistic Director of the Barcelona Jazz Festival
Febrero
Andrea Motis, vocals & trumpet
Camerata Papageno, young Chilean classical chamber orchestra
Christoph Mallinger, violin & mandolin
Federico Dannemann, guitar & direction
Most of the music on Febrero derives from Chile, Peru and Argentina – complemented by a bit of Broadway and Brazil. Federico Dannemann wrote the arrangements especially for this project and together with Camerata Papageno and the thrilling participation of Christoph Mallinger, Andrea Motis performs at the top of her game. Calm but brilliant of sound and timing. Her voice and trumpet mixed with the wonderful sounding young musicians of Camarata Papageno. Summer vibes!
As Ms. Motis notes: “Through the delicate arrangements and how the recording sounds, these songs bring me back to the feeling of calmness and deep joy that we all had together during those summer days in Chile.”

ABOUT CAMERATA PAPAGENO / PAPAGENO CULTURAL FOUNDATION
The Papageno Cultural Foundation, Chile, reaches more than 1500 children with free music education through the “Papageno Routes” where 20 educators travel every week to deliver music classes to 76 rural schools in the Araucanía and Los Ríos regions. In addition, the Foundation has its headquarters at the Papageno Music School, where private lessons and various free musical training and cultural dissemination activities take place. Some of the initiatives generated by Papageno over the last 19 years are music camps, training, masterclasses, concerts and educational meetings with national and international alliances in classical, folk and jazz music.
Baritone and the Papageno Cultural Foundation’s founder Christian Boesch (Vienna, 1941) has performed at the most prestigious theaters and opera festivals (New York Metropolitan, La Scala, Vienna Opera and Salzburg Festival, among many others) throughout his career, often singing the role of Papageno from Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Since 2013, he is the president and founder of the Papageno Cultural Foundation, a Chilean non-profit organization that provides private instrumental and singing lessons for children in the regions of Araucania and Los Rios.
