At the end of March we flew again to New York to make another dream come true: to record Andrea Motis’ first album for Impulse!, the legendary jazz record label that grew with John Coltrane’s hits.
From March 24 to 30, Andrea and the rest of the Quintet got together at Carriage House Studios with Jay Newland, recording technician, and Brian Bacchus, musical producer, to work on Andrea’s new album, which probably will be out at the end of the year.
World class guests
Besides Motis Chamorro Quintet musicians (Joan Chamorro, Ignasi Terraza, Josep Traver and Esteve Pi), the new album counts with world class musicians as Scott Robinson (baritone saxophone), Joel Frahn (tenor saxophone), Warren Wolf (vibraphone and marimba), Gil Goldstein (accordion), Cafe da Silva (percussion) and Perico Sambeat (alto saxophone).
With all these ingredients, the record will surely be memorable.

Where do I get thevalbum
I am awaiting the arrival of Andrea’s latest recording “Emotional Dance”.This is so exciting for me. I only learned about the album approx 10 days ago. I’m a huge fan of Andrea and the group of musicians that she often records with all put together by Joan Chamorro. Ignasi Terraza is fabulous on piano. Josep Traver & Esteve Pi are special as well. Chamorro should receive all kinds of cudo’s for teaching Andrea & all her other mates like Eva Fernandez & Rita Payes all about the great American songbook. Andrea is an incredible talent & so much fun to listen to. Her album with Scott Hamilton is so good. When I heard her do “Moody’s Mood” I could not believe it! so special..I hope this is the first of many recordings on Impulse… I play Andrea & others from these great recordings on my radio show….keep it coming!
